Suzanne Morrissey, Ph.D

Suzanne is Associate Professor of Anthropology and Interdisciplinary Studies and Director of Gender Studies at Whitman College.  Her work represents interests in urban studies, disparities in health, patient-provider relations, and patient-reported outcomes with an emphasis on applied research.  Grounded in medical anthropology, and more specifically in the areas of harm reduction services and program evaluation studies, Professor Morrissey’s projects have ranged from HIV/AIDS prevention, infant mortality prevention, and smoking cessation to ongoing study of the uses of complementary, alternative and integrative medicine for chronic illnesses (e.g. fibromyalgia).
